About us

We started with very humble beginnings. A group of fans - playing typical Beer League shinny hockey at the most glorious barn in all the NHL.

The Joe Louis Arena, in Detroit, Michigan.

The Joe is a very special place. To have the chance to skate there was an opportunity people couldn't pass up. In round 1, players traveled from places like Boston, Kansas City, Chicago and Toronto. In round 3, players traveled from Houston, Colorado, Vancouver, Washington D.C., and New Brunswick, to name a few. Now, we're getting bigger.

For the 2016/2017 season, we held our final "Farewell to the Joe" edition skate at Joe Louis Arena and made our first trek outside Detroit to skate at the Pepsi Center in Denver Colorado. The 2017/2018 season will see Rent the Rink expand again.
